- How often should I service my van?
- Most vans need a service every year or at the mileage set by the manufacturer, whichever comes first. Many newer vans use a service reminder that works out the interval for you. Vans that work hard every day, tow or do lots of short runs benefit from an interim service in between. Give us your registration and we will check the right schedule.
- Which vans do you work on?
- We work on all the common makes, including Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Vito, VW Transporter and Caddy, Vauxhall Vivaro and Movano, Renault Trafic and Master, Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat vans. If yours is something else, call us and we will tell you what we can do.
- Will servicing with you affect my van warranty?
- No. Under block exemption rules you can use an independent garage without losing the manufacturer warranty, as long as the service follows the schedule and uses parts and oils of the right specification. We record the work and stamp the service book.
- My van keeps showing a DPF warning. Can you fix it?
- Usually, yes. Vans doing short local runs rarely get hot enough for long enough to burn the soot out of the filter. A faulty sensor or sticking EGR valve can make it worse. We find the cause, then regenerate, clean or replace the filter as needed.
- What does an AdBlue countdown mean?
- It means the van has found a fault in the AdBlue system and will only start a limited number of times more. The cause could be the pump, heater, dosing injector, NOx sensors or the fluid itself. Book it in quickly. We test the system and replace only the part that has failed.
- My van judders when pulling away. What is it?
- On a manual van this is often a worn clutch or dual-mass flywheel, especially if there is a rattle at idle that goes when you press the pedal. It can also be an engine mount. We check properly before quoting, so you are not paying to do the job twice.
- Do you look after fleets?
- Yes. We service and repair single vans for sole traders and small fleets for local businesses. Each van gets its own clear invoice showing what was done, which makes keeping records simple. Call us to talk through what suits your vans.
- Can you MOT my van while it is in for a service?
- Yes. We test Class 4 vans up to 3,000kg and Class 7 goods vehicles from 3,000kg to 3,500kg. Booking the MOT and service together means the van only comes off the road once, and any MOT repairs can be quoted at the same time.
- Do you give a price before starting work?
- Always. We inspect the van, explain what is needed and why, and give you a clear price. If we find something else once we start, we call you first. No work is carried out without your approval. The bill at the end is the one you agreed.
