Why book with us

Renault Trafic Servicing & Repairs Smethwick with clear advice.

Renault vans are everywhere in Smethwick and across the Black Country. The Trafic is a popular mid-size panel van, the Master is a big workhorse for builders and removals firms, and the Kangoo is a handy small van for town work. We service and repair all three on Cranford Street, along with Renault-based vans sold under other badges such as the earlier Vauxhall Vivaro.

The dCi diesels in these vans are well proven, but they have known weak spots. Clutches and dual-mass flywheels wear, EGR valves stick with carbon, and particulate filters block on vans that never get a proper run. Later Euro 6 vans add AdBlue, which needs testing properly when a warning appears. We see these jobs often, which helps us find the cause quickly.

We read the Renault fault codes, check live data and test before we replace anything. Then we call you with a clear quote and a straight answer about what needs doing now and what can wait. No extra work is done without your approval, so the bill is what you agreed. If we spot something that is not urgent, we tell you so you can plan for it rather than finding out at the next MOT.

A Master or Trafic that is off the road usually means a job not done, so we keep things simple. Book the MOT and service together and the van only comes in once. Andrae has run ER Automotive for over ten years, and we look after vans for tradespeople and small firms from West Bromwich, Oldbury and Hockley. If something bigger turns up, we stop and ring you first.

Many Masters and long-wheelbase Trafics are plated at 3,500kg and need a Class 7 MOT. We test both Class 4 and Class 7, so we can MOT any of them here. Call us on 0121 461 6097 to book your Renault van in. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Tell us the registration when you call and we will check the right parts and schedule for your van.

Common questions

Can you MOT a Renault Master?
Yes. Most Masters are plated at 3,500kg design gross weight, which means a Class 7 MOT, and we test them here. Trafics and Kangoos up to 3,000kg go in Class 4, which we also do. The plate in the door shut or your V5C shows the weight.
My Trafic has a rattle at idle that stops when I press the clutch. What is it?
That is a classic sign of a worn dual-mass flywheel. It often comes with judder when pulling away. If the flywheel is worn it should be changed with the clutch, otherwise the new clutch can be damaged and you pay for the job twice. We check it before quoting.
Why does my Renault van keep going into limp mode?
Common causes are a sticking EGR valve, a blocked DPF, a boost leak or a faulty sensor. We read the codes and test the parts involved, so we fix the real fault. Limp mode is the van protecting itself, so get it looked at rather than driving on.
How often should a Trafic be serviced?
Most Trafics have a service interval set by mileage and time, shown on the dash reminder. A van doing daily work should be serviced at least once a year. We check your van by registration and service it to the Renault schedule with the right oil.
Do you work on Vauxhall and Nissan versions of the Trafic?
Yes. The earlier Vauxhall Vivaro, the Nissan Primastar and NV300, and the Fiat Talento share much of the Trafic underneath. We work on all of them and use the correct parts for each. Give us the registration and we will check exactly which engine and parts your van uses before it comes in.
Will servicing with you affect my Renault warranty?
No. Block exemption rules mean an independent garage can service your van without affecting the warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule and uses correct-spec parts and oils. We record the work and stamp the book. If your van is still under warranty, keep the invoices with the service book, as they show the work was done on time.
Do you look after small fleets?
Yes. We service and repair single vans and small fleets for local firms. Each van gets its own invoice showing what was done, which makes records easy to keep. We can book the service and MOT for each van together so it only comes off the road once. Call us to talk through what suits you.
How do I book my Renault van in?
Call us on 0121 461 6097 or book online with your registration and what the van is doing. We are on Cranford Street in Smethwick, open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. If you are not sure what is wrong, describe what you hear, feel or see on the dash and we will take it from there.
